The BHFA team attended a profound event hosted at the Brighton Unitarian Church by former Mayor Mohammed Asaduzzaman’s ’Multicultural Group Brighton and Hove’, in honour of the Muslim soldiers who gave their lives for Britain in the world wars of the twentieth century - the ’unknown fallen’.

Along with a moving art display and instrumental recital, the need for a permanent memorial to these soldiers was highlighted by the World Wars Muslim Memorial Trust.

Stuart Diamond, Chair of BHFA, addressed those gathered on the importance of entering spaces which are not our traditional spaces and challengend the room to participate in the forthcoming Interfaith Week (November 9th-16th).

Local officals and politicians were in attendance, and tributes were paid to the Fire and Police servcice officers, who had been first responders at the recent fire attack on the Peacehaven Mosque.

The event served as a book launch for the Unknown Fallen book project, and guests were treated to an expert presentation of the material and a free copy of the lavishly illustrated coffee-table book highlighting the powerful stories undergirding the project.
The evening was capped off with a time of food and friendship, including savouries from Mohammed Spice of Life and ’Noah’s Pudding’ supplied by our own Ibrahim Karadol on behalf of his group the Dialogue Society.
