Meet the Trustees - Rabbi Dr Andrea Zanardo

January 09, 2023

In this series we’re taking time to hear from the wonderful Trustees who oversee the work of BHFA. In this post we’ll hear from Rabbi Dr Andrea Zanardo - one of the founders of the first Reform Congregation in Italy in the 1990s - about his love for our city and passion for multifaith work.

Rabbi Dr Andrea Zanardo

Rabbi Dr Andrea Zanardo.

Tell us a bit about yourself and what you like about Brighton and Hove

I was born in Italy, lived in Israel, and landed in the UK where I graduated as Rabbi Married with Sara. Two sons, one daughter, one cat. Brighton is a vibrant and multicultural city with a wonderful quality of life. I LOVE the Brighton Festival and I am excited about the new Jewish Community Centre

Tell us a bit about your faith community

The Jewish community in Brighton is very diverse (all the denominations are represented). It has a long history and a promising future. Brightonian Jews have always been involved in the city’s political, cultural and philanthropic life. When I lived in Italy, I used to be a dee jay, but now I prefer to be a Rabbi and help people to dance with God.

How did you get involved in multi faith work?

Interfaith has always been part of my job as a Rabbi and as soon I was invited to join Faith in Action I jumped on the boat. Now let’s sail! I want all of the faith communities to join us in B&H Faith in Action.
