Brighton and Hove Faith in Action at the Launch of the “Bursting the Bubble” Report
May 01, 2025

On 1st May, Brighton and Hove Faith in Action was proud to be represented at the launch of the important new report, Bursting the Bubble: Recommendations for Enhancing Inter Faith Week in England. Our Chair, Stuart Diamond, attended the event, which was hosted by Lord Khan of Burnley, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Faith, Communities and Resettlement.

The event brought together faith and belief leaders, interfaith practitioners, and policymakers to explore the findings and recommendations of the report. Bursting the Bubble highlights the vital role of Inter Faith Week in building understanding between communities, while also identifying key challenges such as limited outreach beyond existing networks, funding constraints, and the need for greater youth involvement.

Key recommendations from the report include:
- Expanding engagement beyond the ‘interfaith bubble’
- Strengthening partnerships with schools, universities, and local authorities
- Prioritising outreach to younger generations
- Establishing better coordination and support at the national level
- Securing sustainable funding and practical resources for local initiatives
Stuart commented after the event: "It was inspiring to be among so many committed individuals working to strengthen social cohesion through interfaith action. The report sets out a bold and much-needed roadmap. At Brighton and Hove Faith in Action, we are ready to take up the challenge and play our part in making Inter Faith Week – and our wider year-round work – even more inclusive, impactful, and vibrant."
As we move forward, Brighton and Hove Faith in Action will be reviewing the report’s recommendations and looking at ways we can enhance our local interfaith activities, working collaboratively to ensure that everyone in our city feels included and valued.
